Courtney MAUNDER

I’m Courtney Maunder, founder of Courtney Maunder Wellness Limited. My journey into the world of health and fitness began with a deep focus on both body and mind. Having personally experienced severe depression and anxiety, I know first-hand how powerful exercise can be in transforming not only physical health but mental wellbeing too. For me, movement was a lifeline—it gave me strength, stability, and hope. Now, I’m passionate about helping others discover the same benefits. Making fitness accessible and affordable has always been at the heart of what I do. That’s why I introduced semi-private personal training small, supportive sessions that offer expert coaching, community, and encouragement, without the high price tag of one-to-one training. Along the way, I fell in love with Pilates and quickly realised how life-changing it can be. But with high costs and limited availability in our area, many people were missing out. That’s why I created The Pilates Collective by Courtney Maunder: an inclusive, affordable way for more people to experience the incredible benefits of
Pilates in a welcoming group environment. In recognition of my dedication to creating a safe and supportive fitness community, I was honoured to receive the Gold Award for Outstanding Community Support at the Lyme Regis Business Awards. This achievement is a reflection of the strong, uplifting community we’ve built together—one that empowers every individual who walks through the door.
At Courtney Maunder Wellness, everything comes back to one core mission: making
fitness a safe, supportive, and accessible space for everyone—especially those who
may feel intimidated, isolated, or held back by poor mental health.
Sarah wheeler
Sarah Wheeler is a level 5 Soft Tissue Therapist and Fully Comprehensive Pilates Teacher. She completed her training with the Physiotherapy & Pilates Rehabilitation centre in Bristol. The course is affiliated with Alan Herdman Pilates London. Sarah is trained in all aspects of Pilates from mat work and equipment, to using Pilates to help rehabilitate clients with a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions and special populations. Sarah’s passion for Pilates stemmed from her own use of Pilates to help her recover from a sports injury with her sacroiliac joint. Sarah was impressed with the way it rebalanced her own body, quickly improving flexibility, posture, alignment and pelvic stability. Regular practise has made her feel stronger from the inside out and she truly believe it’s the foundation of all good strength work. Sarah has been teaching one to one sessions on the Reformer alongside soft tissue work for a while and finds that using Pilates equipment not only adds interest and fun to the exercises but the specifically designed springs and ropes add resistance that offers a greatly enhanced pilates session compared to mat work alone. Sarah has had the pleasure of working with people from all walks of life, different ages and abilities, from those needing Pilates for rehabilitation all the way to those wanting it as part of a strength and conditioning programme. Sarah will be there to make sure your body is aligned perfectly before each exercise. You will be cued and corrected throughout each individual movement to get the best out of each exercise, as well as encouraged and motivated along the way. When Sarah is not teaching Pilates she enjoys running, hiking, travelling and spending quality time with family and friends in the beautiful countryside of Devon.

Laura Lewis

Laura began practicing Pilates at 14 years old—29 years ago—as a way to relieve back pain caused by her training as a competitive ice skater. What started as rehabilitation transformed her body and ultimately supported a rewarding career as a professional ice show performer and coach. Her passion for movement inspired her to go deeper into Pilates, and the curiosity about the body’s unique design led her to gain qualifications in Level 3 Pilates, orthopaedic conditions, chair-based exercise, and specialist training for people with MS and hypermobility. The way we understand the body today compared to 30 years ago has advanced dramatically, and this motivated her to expand her knowledge of movement patterns. That journey took her all the way to Lake Tahoe, USA, where she studied with Judith Aston. She is now one of only six qualified Aston Paradigm instructors in the UK. With 19 years of teaching experience, she has had the privilege of guiding people through challenges such as MS and scoliosis, as well as helping athletes reach peak performance.
Laura is also a Level 3 qualified Pilates Educator and Assessor, with one of the leading education providers with Futurefit. Helping the next generation of Pilate teachers to reach their full potential. Laura believes deeply in the transformative power of movement for holistic wellness and rehabilitation. Her mission is to help you unlock your body’s potential for healing, strength, and fulfilment.

JANE

Jane has been teaching Pilates since 2007 when she qualified as a matwork teacher in the US whilst working as a personal trainer. She began her Pilates equipment training in 2012 and gained her mat and reformer certification in 2014 with Stott Pilates. Jane went on to complete her full comprehensive equipment training with Stott and has extensive post qualification training; working with older adults and clients rehabilitating injuries or living with mobility challenges due to long term health conditions. Jane ran a successful Pilates studio for 11 years in Hampshire before moving to East Devon in 2023 where she has been busy renovating a house with her partner in Membury. Jane is looking forward to meeting and teaching new clients at the Pilates Collective and sharing her passion for the Pilates method! As well as taking regular equipment sessions with a local Pilates teacher, Jane enjoys hiking, weight training and swimming (pool and sea!)
